Emap Performance has appointed former Empire editor Colin Kennedy as
its first digital creative director.
Kennedy will join the digital wing
of Emap, which is growing its team in a bid to be a lead player in the
UK market. He will be leading digital creative development of both new
and existing brands.
Kennedy joined Empire in January 2000 as features editor and became editor in September 2002 before being promoted to Empire editor-in-chief in 2005. For the last seven months, Kennedy has also been publisher of Empire. Prior to Empire, Kennedy was at Smash Hits for three years rising to the
position of commissioning editor.
Kennedy said: “I am very sad to be leaving Empire after six-and-a-half
years but genuinely thrilled by the challenge ahead.
"I've always
believed that Emap is a centre of truly world class creativity and the
opportunity to contribute new ideas to our already blossoming digital
portfolio is an awesome responsibility. So if you have an idea, large
or small, my door is always open.”
