Cumbrians focus on their Star attractions

By Press Gazette

The Carlisle News & Star has organised a major photography
exhibition chronicling 50 years of life in Cumbria, writes Sarah Lagan.

Flashback:
50 Years of the Cumberland News Photographic Archive is a result of two
year’s research by deputy picture editor Stewart Blair and retired
chief photographer Jim Turner in association with Carlisle’s Tullie
House Museum and Art Gallery.

The 180 prints were taken by 19 photographers, eight of whom still work for the company.

Mike
Scott, picture editor of the News & Star and the Cumberland News,
said: “We are incredibly proud of this exhibition and we hope the
public will find it as enjoyable as we do. It shows the great diversity
of the work we do.”

The exhibition runs from 19 November to 29 January at Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery, Castle Street, Carlisle, Cumbria.
