The Press Association national news agency is seeking an experienced journalist to fill the high-profile role of chief sports reporter. The successful candidate must have:
- An outstanding track record of breaking stories
- An impressive contacts book
- Clear knowledge of governing bodies in sport
- Experience of working at a large media organisation
- The ability to work under pressure and on their own initiative.
The roles involves covering major events, such as summer/winter Olympics and international football tournaments. It also requires the ability to interpret complex information quickly, with many sports news stories including a political and financial focus.
A strong understanding of social media is vital in order to build the profile of yourself and the Press Association. You will also be expected to have clear ideas on how you would develop the role of the chief sports reporter to maximise PA’s impact for customers across digital, print and broadcast.
You will be expected to appear on other media outlets as a representative of the Press Association, so experience of being interviewed on TV and radio would be desirable.
This full-time role will be home-based between reporting assignments, and you will report directly to the sports editor.
