Brierley: will edit new title
Centaur is gearing up to launch a weekly magazine for corporate accountants, Finance Week.
The A4 title has been kept under wraps until now, but is scheduled to launch at the end of October. It will be news led with analysis, features and special reports, including the latest changes in EU legislation .
Sean Brierley, former editor of sister title The Lawyer, is editor and Centaur is looking for six more journalists, including a news editor, to complete the team.
“In terms of scale, it is probably the first major B2B launch in five or six years in any market. It is a culmination of a great deal of research and the reason we have had to keep it under wraps is because we do think it is a very strong market,” Brierley said.
Finance Week will be distributed via controlled circulation with a limited number of copies sold on the news-stand. Centaur is also planning a big subscriptions push.
Tim Potter, publishing director of Centaur’s financial services and legal division, said corporate accountants had become a very distinct group due to changes in accountancy standards.
“They want to know how other companies in their sector are working. There is a huge editorial agenda that has not been covered,” he said. “We will tell things as they are. It will be a truly independent voice for corporate accountants.”
Potter claimed there was little overlap with Accountancy Age, published by VNU, as it served the entire marketplace while Finance Week will focus on finance directors and finance controllers.
