Channel 4 News has announced that Sky’s Rachel Amatt will be joining its ITN/Channel 4News Bureau as North of England Correspondent in November.
While at Sky, Amatt covered a number of high profile stories including the Soham murders, the Stansted hijack and the deaths of Victoria Climbie and Damilola Taylor. She has recently returned from the siege at Beslan, where she was the one of the first journalists to enter the school’s grounds as the Russian military launched their attacks.
Channel 4 News’ northern bureau is run by Chameleon Television. executive producer Allen Jewhurst said: “Rachel is the right choice for one of the most demanding and exciting news areas in the country. She will have the opportunity of breaking news stories and giving them a creative and insightful analysis.”
Amatt previously worked at GMTV, Meridian and as a BBC radio reporter before moving to Sky.
