The article by Jon Slattery about the Beckham case (Press Gazette,
29 April)n seems to ignore the fact that the Beckhams are suing the
paper for saying their marriage is a sham.
In other words, they are arguing it is all lies.
It
is a disturbing, scandalous reflection on privacy when a non-media
expert judge seems to infer that the Beckhams’ former nanny Abbie
Gibson is telling the truth.
The ‘revelations’ were actually
nothing new. She illegally broke her contract for tabloid tales and
money and the claims she made were part of a libel case (that will go
to court later this year) anyway.
This is journalism at its worst.
