A Scotland Yard press officer has received a commissioner’s commendation for her part in the operation to foil the diamond raiders at the Millennium Dome.
Angie Evans, 28, is the only media person among 15 police officers and other staff to receive the award.
Throughout the planning of the operation she remained in touch with the officers involved and monitored press interest. The citation declared: “She exhibited great integrity while treading a thin line between media and public interest.”
