Argus helps police cut out car crime

By Press Gazette

The South Wales Argus is claiming to have helped reduce car crime in its circulation area by 25 per cent.

The newspaper launched its Car Safe campaign three months ago as Gwent Police began a crackdown on thefts from and of cars.

In the period following the campaign launch car crimes in the area have numbered 2,046 – down by a quarter, according to the paper.

Argus editor Gerry Keighley said: “This is a victory of sorts, there is still a long way to go but the figures are heading in the right direction.”
