64-page Orcadian makes history

By Press Gazette

The Orcadian has prepared for the Orkney island’s traditional agricultural show season by producing the biggest paper in its 150-year history.

A 16-page farming feature helped to bump pagination of the main title up to a record 64 pages.

Over the past year the paper has introduced more pages in general, as well as a slight revamp, to coincide with The Orcadian’s 150th anniversary in January.

News editor Stuart Laundy said: “We are only a small staff, and everyone has put in a big effort to produce what for us is a huge paper.”

“Now we are averaging 48 or 52 pages, but turning out 64 pages this week was a bit special. Though it did mean missing England’s win over the Windies on Sunday!
