The Sun: Gag on revealing celeb’s extra-marital threesome ‘sinister and illogical attack on freedom of speech’

By Dominic Ponsford

The Sun has described a court order barring it from revealing a celebrity's extra-marital sexual activities as "a sinister and illogical attack on freedom of speech".

The unnamed "entertainer" was yesterday granted an interim injunction by the Court of Appeal barring The Sun from revealing that he had a sexual threesome with another individual and their partner.

Lord Justice Jackson heard that "PJS" is in an "open marriage" with another well-known person from the world of entertainment.

The judge said the story did not expose any hypocrisy and would be "devastating" for the claimant. He also cited concern for the claimant's children.

But The Sun today quoted a source who it says has been gagged by the judgment. The source told the paper: "The fact they’re hiding behind their children is disgraceful. This sets a dangerous precedent.

In a leader comment The Sun said: "The judges’ decision to gag The Sun on Sunday from revealing the hypocrisy of a 'family man' entertainer is a sinister and illogical attack on freedom of speech.

"This high-profile celebrity has courted publicity for years, regularly including his kids.

"That wholesome image is a deception on the public. And the High Court rightly agreed there was a public interest in The Sun on Sunday putting that straight by revealing his extra-marital threesome.
