Oxford Mail editor Simon O'Neill is stepping down after more than ten years with the title.
O'Neill has been group editor of the Newsquest-owned Oxford Mail since 2004 and was previously group editor of the Swindon Advertiser and the weekly Wiltshire titles for seven years.
Newsquest Oxfordshire and Wiltshire managing director Chris Moore said in a note to staff that O'Neill "leaves with my gratitude and best wishes after guiding the editorial department through some challenging times.
"He has done so while striving to maintain the highest editorial standards, recruiting and developing an array of tremendous talent and ensuring that our publications campaign robustly and tirelessly on behalf of the communities they serve.
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank Simon for his contribution over the years and wish him well for the future. An announcement on his successor will be made in due course."
O'Neill is due to leave at the end of the month.
Yesterday the Oxford Mail published a 15-page special edition campaigning against proposed changes to the Freedom of Information Act.
In October 2014 some 25 subbing and production staff based in Oxford lost as Newsquest moved work to Newport in Wales. Since then there have been further cuts to photographers at Newsquest Oxford and Wiltshire.
