Liverpool Echo print editor Andrew Campbell (pictured) has been named as the new editor of the Daily Post in Wales.

He is to replace Mark Thomas, whose departure was announced on Friday, in July.

Campbell has worked at Trinity Mirror, the publisher of both the Liverpool Echo and Daily Post, since joining the Gloucester Citizen in 1995.

At Trinity Mirror, he was been Echo investigations editor, Welsh news editor, Daily Post assistant editor and Echo deputy editor. He was also a producer on Channel One TV in Liverpool for six months.

Trinity Mirror said: "Andrew has been a key figure in the implementations of both Newsroom 3.0 and Newsroom 3.1 and central to the Echo’s outstanding record as an award-winning title consistently among the industry’s best commercial performers over the last ten years."
