The Observer's cover price will remain at £2.90. It cost £2.70 in August last year.

The Mail on Sunday raised its cover price from £1.50 to £1.60 earlier this month, and the i's cost went up by 10p in February, to 40p on weekdays and 50p on Saturdays.

Since the end of February, the Daily Mirror and Sun have also increased their Saturday cover prices from 80p to 90p and 60p to 70p respectively. The Sun on Sunday has also increased its cover price from 80p to £1 in this time.

A Guardian spokesman said: “The Guardian continues to lead the way with its agenda-setting and award-winning journalism. By raising the cover price we are able to keep investing in our journalism and all our print and digital products.
