A Johnston Press group editor who announced his departure from the company after 25 years last week has secured a new job.
Brian Stormont, senior editor of the Angus County Press, has been appointed editor of four weeklies owned by Romanes Media Group, which is based in Glasgow.
Stormont currently has direct editorial responsibility for the Arbroath Herald, Guide & Gazette and Montrose Review. He is the group editor of 14 newspapers overall.
Asked about his motivation for leaving Johnson Press, Stormont – the third group editor to leave the company in quick succession – said that "25 years is a long time”. He started on the Arbroath Herald Guide and Gazette in 1989 as an apprentice at the age of 16.
Stormont will now edit the Alloa Advertiser, Stirling News, Strathallan Times and Alloa Weekender titles, which are based in Clackmannanshire.
