North Wales daily editor given additional responsibility for four weeklies as position is axed by Trinity Mirror

By William Turvill

The editor of a daily Trinity Mirror newspaper has been given additional responsibility for four weeklies.

Linda Roberts, editor North Wales Weekly News, Caernarfon and Denbigh Herald, Holyhead and Anglesey Mail and Bangor Mail, has left the publisher after taking redundancy and her role axed.

The four titles will now be edited by Mark Thomas, who is also editor of the North Wales Daily Post.

The changes have come as part of Trinity Mirror's Newsroom 3.1 initiative, which was rolled out to North Wales in the autumn.

A Mirror spokesman said: “Linda’s role was no longer required due to the recent newsroom 3.1 restructure rolling out across Trinity Mirror’s regional titles.

"Linda chose to take redundancy and leaves with our very best wishes.”
