The Telegraph’s fun football website Project Babb reached more than 1m unique browsers in its first full month, the publisher has revealed.
Telegraph Media Group (TMG) has decided to continue with the mobile and social media focused site which was launched outside the Telegraph’s metered internet paywall on 12 May.
Figures for Project Babb did not count towards overall Telegraph web traffic which rose to a record high of 3.9 unique browsers per day in June (according to ABC) a rise of 43 per cent year on year. Across the month, the Telegraph reached 79m (making it the third most popular UK national newspaper behind Mail Online and The Guardian).
In June, Project Babb reached 1.4m unique across the month according to TMG. Some 40 per cent of this traffic was said to come from desktop computers, with 30 per cent via mobile.
Some 60 per cent of visits to the site are said to have been driven by social media, with two thirds of readers said to be under 35 (again according to TMG).
Over the 33 days of the football World Cup Telegraph Sport is said to have attracted an average of 1.6m visitors per day. Live blogs for both semi finals and the final were all said to have received more than one million page views.
