Kay Burley and Stig Abell to host LBC weekend show

By Press Gazette

The Sun's managing editor Stig Abell is to team up with Sky News presenter Kay Burley to host a new weekend breakfast programme on the talk radio station LBC.
The pair will start their new weekly programme on Sundays at 8am from 22 March. LBC said they would "tackle the major stories of the day and interview the biggest names in politics, business, culture and entertainment".
Burley hosts Sky News every weekday afternoon and Abell joined the Sun last year after previously working as director of the Press Complaints Commission.
Burley said in today's announcement: "The timing is just right with an election coming up next year – we'll be putting politicians through their paces, and discussing the issues that matter to our listeners. I can't wait for Stig and I to get started."
Global Radio director of broadcasting Richard Park said of Burley: "Her skill of holding politicians and leading authority figures to account will make Sunday mornings a must-listen around the country on LBC."
Abell is the latest newspaper journalist to join the schedule at LBC. The weekday breakfast show is fronted by Nick Ferrari.
The Daily Mail's consultant editor Andrew Pierce is also returning to the station to host a three-hour Saturday breakfast show.
