BBC plans to mark World War One centenary by broadcasting 1,400 local stories

By Dominic Ponsford

A 50-strong team of BBC producers is working on telling 1,400 stories this year as part of its project marking then centenary of the outbreak of World War One.
The plan is to broadcast 100 reports from Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales and from each English region – Ariel reports.
Tim Plyming, executive producer at BBC Knowledge & Learning, told Ariel: "Everywhere in the UK has a story to tell around their connection to World War One," says Plyming.
"We know that's one thing people really want to search for – their location and the town they were born – and to be able to pull up a load of stories related to that."
