Trinity Mirror launches new Troon edition of Ayrshire Post

By William Turvill

Trinity Mirror has brought out a new edition of the Ayrshire Post for the Scottish west coast town of Troon.

The weekly, part of the Media Scotland division, often runs to 128 pages – up to 17 of which will now be dedicated to Troon.

Editor Cheryl McEvoy said: “I am proud to have realised our ambition to expand at a time when the industry has never been under such pressure.

“We have a top team who have worked tirelessly on the launch and we aim to keep up the momentum.

“The extra space allows us to cover Troon not just well, but brilliantly, and our initial feedback from the readers has been exceptional.

“We have a number of exciting initiatives planned in the months ahead.”

Helena Morrow, commercial manager for Media Scotland regionals, said: “The Troon edition will also help advertisers get their message across in a newspaper product that is second to none.

“Feedback has been very positive and our advertising teams have been working closely with businesses in the town.

“The launch opens up a whole new stream of revenue opportunities.”

According to ABC figures, the Ayrshire Post's average weekly circulation between July and December 2012 was 18,864.
