Everyone in redtop land is waiting with breath suitably bated to see what transformations will be brought about at the Sunday People after Sue Douglas was choppered in.
Quite a few ideas seemed to be flying round in her first few days in Canada Square. Sadly, one that won’t see the light of day is to have a TV crew come and film the newsdesk at work for a BBC documentary.
Some Trinity Mirror insiders suggested that subjecting Sunday People journos to the horror of becoming the latest reality TV stars would have helped the paper publicise a potential relaunch without actually spending any money – something that most newsrooms are not awash with these days.
The plan was shelved though on the back of what Axegrinder hears were some quite strongly worded objections from staffers.
Because, obviously, the one thing tabloid reporters want at the moment is yet more scrutiny…
