Reurn to sender: Paul McMullan makes the news again

By Axegrinder

If anyone ever told Paul McMullan that journalists shouldn’t become the story, he mislaid the memo many moons ago.

Having become a kind of human piñata when he virtually took up residency on Newsnight at the height of the phone-hacking scandal two years ago, the former News of the World hack has returned to the more sedate life of running a pub in Dover.

But you can’t keep McMullan out of the news. This week he popped up in his local paper after it turned out builders renovating the pub had found a stash of unopened 34-year-old post sealed behind a wall.

According to the Dover Express, the treasure trove of historic artefacts included bank letters and holiday brochures.

Axegrinder has yet to discover whether there were any long-forgotten writs for McMullan amid the junk mail…
