Over at Emap, which is selling its consumer magazines and radio divisions to Bauer, the bosses of the B2B portfolio have been busy dreaming up ways to put a positive spin on things.
Announcing the decision to retain the B2B portfolio, a senior executive told staff that at least the sale of celebrity gossip mags such as Heat and Closer meant Emap could now be seen as a much more “morally superior†proposition.
New Emap then: a holier-than-Bauer company without the cash cows it so happily milked since the trend for laughing at celebrities with sweaty armpits took off.
