With all the cost cutting at the Telegraph recently, I hear that executive foreign editor Con Coughlin recently went on a rare trip to Moscow. And one who knows those foreign lands well tells me he stayed in one of the plushest, most expensive hotels in town.
Says my mole: “Originally he was booked in at the Metropole, but instead decided to stay at the more expensive Ritz Carlton.†According to the hotel website, the cheapest room in the hotel is $870 (£425) a night.
Perhaps the old days of being a foreign correspondent and living it up in great style aren’t over just yet.
