IT killjoys impose desktop diktat

By Axegrinder axeblog

An Orwellian gloom descends on the offices of The Sentinel in Stoke as news from the IT control room informs the workforce that all personalised computer wallpapers are to be removed and replaced with “a standard corporate background”.

In a company email disseminated to staff, the IT Regional Service Desk says: “It has been requested by regional management that all company desktop computers have a common desktop wallpaper.

“From Monday 18 June, all personalised wallpapers will be removed and replaced with a standard corporate background.”

The stringent move could be interpreted as a clampdown on “thought crime”. Then again, some grubby hack could just have ruined it for everyone with his personalised wallpaper featuring Jordan’s non-literary assets.
