The BBC’s business editor Robert Peston has irritated bosses of the Corporation’s 10 O’Clock News by sniping at the way they cover big stories in the Square Mile.
Referring to the departure of BP boss Lord Browne, Peston said breezily in an interview:
“For whatever reason, the 10 O’Clock News didn’t really do it properly.â€
But insiders at the Beeb are privately seething at the criticism from the seriously ambitious former Financial Times and Sunday Telegraph scribbler.
“It’s a bit rich coming from Peston,†mutters one fellow hack at the corporation.
“His live performances are far from perfect. He’s got a long way to go, although possibly not as far as we’d hope.â€
