Careful… Col’s clamped down on free hols

By Axegrinder axeblog

According to my spies, News of the World editor Colin Myler has taken a keen interest in some of the freebie trips enjoyed by some of the 11 paper’s senior execs at Wapping.

The issue of journalists taking lavish junkets became something of a hot potato in the United States where Myler was, until recently, executive editor of Murdoch‘s New York Post.

In the wake of the jailing of royal editor Clive Goodman for intercepting phone messages, Myler is determined that everyone at Wapping behaves impeccably. My quivering source says: “He wants everyone to be whiter than white. Everyone is getting very twitchy about following the rules.”

But Axegrinder can’t believe rumours that some staffers have enjoyed a luxurious jaunt (or two) and “forgotten” to write up the copy for the travel pages.
