Daily Echo’s heart campaign gains 178,000 supporters

Some 178,000 people have joined a campaign by the Southern Daily Echo to stop the closure of Southampton’s children’s cardiac care centre.

The Echo’s Have a Heart campaign aims to gain 200,000 signatures in opposition to proposals which put the specialist centre at Southampton General Hospital under threat.

Next Wednesday the Daily Echo, along with an army of families and hospital staff, plan to visit 10 Downing Street to present the petition to the Prime Minister.
