Sir Alex Ferguson is to meet BBC director-general Mark Thompson in a bid to end the feud between the Manchester United manager and the broadcaster, according to reports today.
Figures from the Premier League told the Mirror that a meeting between the two had been agreed.
New rules brought in this season by the Premier League imposed fines on Ferguson each time he refused to talk to the corporation.
The Man Utd boss has refused to talk to the BBC since it broadcast a documentary in 2004 about his son Jason, who was then working as an agent.
Ferguson has previously said he will only speak to the BBC again once it has apologised. However, the prospect of an apology may not be forthcoming.
