Arnold Hadwin OBE, who had a journalistic career spanning 60 years, has died aged 82.
A former Royal Marine Commando, Hadwin’s career included 11 years as the editor of Bradford Telegraph & Argus – from 1973 to 1984 – before he went on to become editor of the Lincolnshire Standard Group of newspapers.
His former paper has this week published a moving tribute to Hadwin looking at some of his major achievements during his time as editor and featuring the reminiscences of former colleagues and local dignitaries.
Hadwin lived alone in Langworth, Lincolnshire, following the death of his wife, Edna, several years ago. He leaves two daughters and two grandchildren. His funeral is expected to take place next week.

In 2009, Hadwin gave an outspoken interview to Press Gazette in which he said that the current generation of regional newspaper owners had become “as greedy as bankers”.
He said: “The people who run newspapers know nothing about newspapers.”
