Kelvin MacKenzie reconsiders by-election bid

By paulmcnally

Former Sun editor Kelvin MacKenzie is reported to be having second thoughts about standing against David Davis in the Howden by-election.

According to the Mail on Sunday, Sun proprietor Rupert Murdoch has “effectively disowned” MacKenzie after he made a joke about neighbouring Hull, describing the city as “beyond shocking”.

An MoS poll has found 14 per cent of voters in the area back MacKenzie. The Independent has a profile of him.
