Time Out has called for an official competition investigation into the BBC’s acquisition of Lonely Planet.
According to the Sunday Times, the Time Out founder Tony Elliott has written to the Office of Fair Trading, arguing that BBC Worldwide’s £75m purchase of the travel publisher last October breached competition law.
“BBC Worldwide, in a lot of people’s view, is out of control,” he said. “Somebody needs to really have a close look at it and define what it really should be doing.”
