Yvone Ridley wins £14,000 in damages from al-Jazeera

By Patrick

Former Express and al-Jazeera journalist Yvone Ridely has won £14,000 in a four-year unfair dismissal battle with the network in the Qatari courts.

Ridley was fired in 2003 while working as an editor after complaining that her stories about US troops in Iraq were taken down from al-Jazeera’s website.

She told MediaGuardian today that she doesn’t hold a grudge against the station.

Ridley now works for Press TV, an English-language, Iranian state-owned network based in London.
