BBC staff vote for more courses in trust

By colinc

Almost two thirds of BBC staff who have taken part in its Safeguarding Trust course, devised in the wake of last year’s high profile editorial breaches at the corporation, have said they would like to take similar courses.

A Gateway poll found that most of the 1200 staff who voted who like to see other similar courses and most said such training should be mandatory, according to BBC in-house magazine Ariel.

Over 90 per cent of participants on the courses run by the corporation’s College of Journalism said they now felt confident in raising editorial concerns with their line manager.

About 2000 staff will have been through the course by the time it ends in March. An external site on trust for indies and freelances working at the BBC is in the pipeline.
