New claim that commercial broadcasters oppose BBC licence fee share

A Conservative proposal for the BBC to share its licence fee with commercial broadcasters has run into opposition from the ITV and BSkyB.

A “senior Conservative” told The Times: “There is resistance to the idea of commercial broadcasters being given public subsidies.”
