Sally Brampton, the launch editor of Elle and later editor of women’s magazine Red, tells the Daily Mail today of how she struggled with depression and drink at her time at the top of the magazine world and even attempted suicide.
Brampton has since left magazines but has written an advice column for the Sunday Times on relationships and has written several novels.
She has written a book about her depression, Shoot the Damn Dog: A Memoir of Depression, which The Times has reviewed here.
