The Yorkshire Post and Yorkshire Evening Post are moving to new offices in Leeds city centre.
The papers are expected to make the move from their Wellington Street base to a new headquarters on Whitehall Road in early October.
Owners Johnston Press also announced that some staff from the Wakefield Express series will move to the new office but that ‘key editorial staff’will remain in the city at a centrally located office, which will also have space for local advertising staff.
The Wellington Street site, opened in 1970, and the Southgate, Wakefield, premises will be put on the market.
The Yorkshire papers’ new offices at Number 1 Leeds, Whitehall Road, is owned by IVG, which also own the Gherkin building in central London.
Yorkshire Post Newspapers Ltd will be the building’s major tenant .
YPN managing director Helen Oldham said: ‘I am delighted that we have secured new high profile, quality, city centre premises for our Leeds and Wakefield businesses.
‘The move signifies a sizeable investment in our people and will provide an environment in which we can take our highly regarded media brands forward positively.”
In June, Johnston Press announced plans to make 19 editorial redundancies out of an editorial staff of 123 at the Yorkshire Post and Yorkshire Evening Post.
It was revealed in April that the two titles were being merged under one editor.
