David Cameron's former communications chief Andy Coulson has been arrested on suspicion of committing perjury during the Tommy Sheridan trial at the High Court in Glasgow, the Crown Office said today.
The 44-year-old was detained in London this morning by officers from Strathclyde Police.
Mr Coulson, who was at the time Prime Minister David Cameron's communications chief, gave evidence at the trial in which Mr Sheridan was convicted of perjury at the High Court in Glasgow in December 2010.
In July last year, Mr Coulson was arrested by officers working on Scotland Yard's long-running investigation into phone-hacking at the News of the World, on suspicion of conspiring to intercept communications and corruption.
He was released on bail, which was extended earlier this month.
