Tindle Newspapers has launched its latest paid-for title in Chepstow.
The news comes three weeks after the company announced plans to launch two new paid-for titles in the near future and awarded a bonus to all full-time staff.
Its latest weekly the Chepstow Review, which costs 40p, will serve the Welsh border town and the outlying towns and villages of Caldicot and St Arvans.
The town was previously served by the Tindle’s Forest of Dean and Wye Valley Review, which claims to be the biggest weekly newspaper in the Dean and Severnside with an audited circulation of 44,527.
Chepstow Review editor Mark Bristow said: ‘The Review already has a strong presence in Chepstow and is extremely popular among local residents.
‘The new paid-for paper will build on that popularity with a mission to reach out and talk to residents without fear or favour. A local paper, representing local interests at all times.’
Tindle said the Review is the eleventh local weekly paper launched or bought by the group since the recession hit – and claimed that ‘more are promised in the next few weeks”.
In June, Tindle launched the fortnightly paid-for Chingford Times and weeks later published the first edition of The Pembroke and Pembroke Dock Observer.
In July, the company’s owner Sir Ray Tindle urged editors in his regional newspaper group to launch their way out of the ‘ghastly recession”.
