A new parenting website for fathers has been launched headed up by former media reporter Ed Owen and former Sunday Times style editor Tim Willis.
The pair believe DaddyBeGood.com will fill a gap in the market for parenting information aimed at men and could match the success enjoyed by websites like Mumsnet, with features on “surviving sports day” and “bonding over a ball”.
Contributors include former Loaded editor James Brown, Big Issue founder John Bird and former Vanity Fair contributing editor Toby Young.
Father-of-two Owen, a former reporter at Haymarket-owned titles Media Week, Brand Republic, Marketing and Campaign, has been appointed editor, and Willis is editor-in-chief.
‘This generation of dads is more committed to spending time with their children than any previous generation,” said Owen.
‘Our aim is to not only provide tips and advice – some humorous, some more sensible – on how to be a great dad but also to provide dads with the ability to share experiences and get that sense of community, online,’he added.
The website also offers free entry to some seasonal attractions for registered members as part of a 12-month promotional campaign with Cineworld.
DaddyBeGood.com is the second online community launched by advertising agency Beta, which also started the website high50.com aimed at those aged over 50 at the beginning of June. Willis is also editor of high50.com.
