The News of the World issued a page-two apology for hacking people’s voicemail messages as The Times reoported that a £15m compensation fund is being set up to settle civil claims.
Meanwhile some 50 detectives are said to be working on a criminal investigation into the matter with chief reporter Neville Thurlbeck and former assistant editor Ian Edmondson both arrested and questioned last month.
