Daily Star Sunday deputy editor Michael Booker is to join The Daily Express in the same role.
Booker will move from one of Express Newspapers’ weekly titles title to its flagship daily from Monday.
His move, which was brought about by Express editor Peter Hill leaving the paper, has resulted in a series of senior editorial changes on the Daily Star Sunday.
Booker is taking up the vacancy made by Hugh Whittow, former deputy editor of the Daily Express, being appointed editor of the paper in Hill’s place.
As a result Peter Carbery has been promoted to deputy editor of the Daily Star Sunday in Booker’s place, while Neil Chandler has been promoted to assistant editor (news) and Stuart James promoted to assistant editor (production).
Tom Savage will also move from the Daily Star to become deputy news editor under Chandler.
Booker has been deputy editor of the Daily Star Sunday since January, 2007. Previously, he was assistant editor (news) and news editor, a role he took up in 2003.
He had joined the Daily Star Sunday as deputy news editor for the launch in September 2002 after working at the Daily Star, which he joined as a reporter in 2001 after starting his career at the Ross Parry Agency in Leeds.
