Sunday Telegraph news editor James Hall to join Alamy

By Oliver Luft

Photography agency Alamy has appointed Sunday Telegraph news editor James Hall to the newly created role of head of news.

Alamy, which is a major supplier of stock photographic images to newspapers and magazines, said today it has created the role to strengthen its product range in the editorial sector.

Hall is expected to joint the company in the first quarter of next year.

James West, chief executive of Alamy, said: “We’re delighted that James will be heading up this new department – his grounding in current affairs and management was a big factor in our decision to back a candidate who isn’t from the photo industry. This is a great opportunity to build a product from a customer’s perspective.”

Press Gazette revealed earlier this week that Telegraph Media Group had already appointed Hugh Dougherty as Hall’s replacement at The Sunday Telegraph.

Dougherty will join the paper from the Daily Mail where he has been deputy news editor since November last year.
