The former editor of Crain’s Manchester Business, which folded earlier this year, has been appointed as the new editor of The Visitor in Morecambe and the Lancaster Guardian.
Steve Brauner had been editor of the Crain’s local weekly business newspaper for almost three years from launch in December 2007 until it closed June.
Prior to that he edited the North West Evening Mail in Barrow-in-Furness and the North West Business Insider.
He’ll now take control of the two Johnston Press weekly titles.
Brauner is quoted in The Visitor: “I am thrilled to be in the editor’s chair at not one but two of the best weekly titles in the North West.
“The Visitor and the Guardian have long and proud traditions of serving the community and enjoy tremendous loyalty from their combined readership.”
According to the most recent figures from the Audit Bureau of Circulations, The Visitor averaged a weekly circulation of 12,286 during the first six months of the year – a drop 0.7 per cent year on year.
The Lancaster Guardian had an average weekly circulation of 14,517 during the same period, a year-on-year fall of 2.9 per cent.
