Johnston Press has made senior appointments to oversee web and company development and to manage its operations in the North.
The regional publisher has also appointed a new editor for its Yorkshire daily, the Halifax Courier.
Henry Faure Walker, general manager of the publisher’s Scotsman Publications division, has been appointed digital and business development director with immediate effect.
Faure Walker, who joined Johnston Press in 2002 as business development manager, replaces digital strategy director Lori Cunningham who left the company in June.
In his new role, he will continue to expand the digital activities which include a new business directory partnership with Qype which was announced last month.
In addition, Johnston Press has also appointed Steve Brown, former head of Trinity Mirror north-east and Midlands divisions, as its new divisional managing director north.
Brown most recently worked as chief executive of Claverley Group, parent company of the nation’s biggest selling regional newspaper, Wolverhampton’s Express & Star.
He will be based in Leeds and joins later this week reporting to Danny Cammiade, chief operating officer of Johnston Press.
Brown’s appointment follows the departure of Chris Green, Johnston Press’s former divisional managing director in the North, who left promptly last month following discussions over a proposed group reorganisation.
The regional publishing group has also appointed Tim Robinson as the new editor of the Courier and a string of weekly papers run by the Johnston Press-owned Yorkshire Weekly Newspaper Group.
Robinson, who currently heads Johnston Press’s weekly papers in the East Midlands, will take up his new post later in the year replacing John Furbisher who moved to become editor of the Sheffield Star earlier int he year.
The appointments follow a further senior appointment at the group in recent weeks. Last month, Johnston Press appointed Kjell Aamot, the former chief executive of Norwegian publisher Schibsted ASA, as a non-executive director.
