The Trinity Mirror-led consortium bidding to run the regional news pilot scheme in the north east of England has signed-up TV executives Tom Gutteridge and Nigel Dacre.
Dacre, a former editor of ITV News and brother of Daily Mail editor Paul Dacre, has joined to provide “overall co-ordination” for the bid which also includes the Press Association, production company Ten Alps along with Cumbrian newspaper publisher, CN Group.
Gutteridge, founder of TV production company Mentorn, will manage the TV programming side of the bid through this Newcastle-based production company Standing Stone.
Trinity Mirror’s consortium is one of three bidding for public money to run the pilot scheme to replace ITV’s regional news in the Tyne Tees and Border region.
The independent selection panel choosing the winning bidder will make recommendations to the department for culture, media and sport next month. With pilots getting underway later in the year.
