Three journalists were awarded MBEs in the New Year Honours.
Regional press reporter of 30 years standing Sheila Gow was awarded the MBE for services to journalism.
Gow currently works as a part-time reporter for the East Grinstead Courier and Observer.
She spent over a decade helping trainees through paces for the NCE exam as a qualified assessor of the NCTJ.
Also receiving an MBE for services to journalism was reporter at Belfast High Court, Ivan McMichael.
The 68-year-old former Belfast Telegraph reporter has been a journalist for 50 years.
Foluke Akinlose, founder and editor of Precious Online an online magazine aimed at black women in the UK, also received an MBE.
