Guardian to chart 100 years of press photography

The Guardian will tomorrow give away the first of nine booklets documenting the best press photography from the last century.

Called ‘100 Years of Press Photography’ the series will chart the development of photo-journalism since 1910.

The first book in the series covers the period 1910 to 1929 with each of the subsequent eight books covering, in chronological order, a decade to bring the series up to the present day.

The series includes interviewed in images from the 1937 Hindeburg disaster, the Balkan war, Tiananmen Square’s infamous ‘tank man’ and controversial picture of 9/11.

Guardian News and Media, publishers of the Guardian newspaper, asked a panel 11 photography enthusiasts, including photographers Nan Goldin and Wolfgang Tillmans alongside filmmaker Anton Corbijn, writer Geoff Dyer and magazine publisher Jefferson Hack, to nominate their favourite images.
