
Short news bulletins from Al Jazeera English will appear on the Independent’s website under a deal announced today.
The videos, presented from the channel’s centres in Doha, Kuala Lumpur, London and Washington will be updated throughout the day, the broadcaster said.
Al Jazeera English describes itself as ‘a bridge between cultures’and as ‘balancing the information flow from South to North”.
It reaches 130 million households in over 100 countries.
Last month, The Independent signed a similar deal with French rolling news channel France 24, putting its English-language content on the paper’s website.
Independent.co.uk managing director Bill Swanson said: ‘This is another key partnership for the ongoing evolution of the website – we are delighted to be working with such a progressive and respected broadcaster.”
The Al Jazeera Network’s director of global distribution Phil Lawrie added: ‘We are excited by this new association – Al Jazeera takes pride in its editorial integrity, challenging journalism and high quality content, values we know that Independent readers appreciate.”
