Marie Claire editor Marie O’Riordan is to leave the title in December after seven years in the job, publisher IPC Media confirmed today.
O’Riordan joined Marie Claire in 2001 and is a former editor of Elle and More and group publishing director of Bliss and Just Seventeen.
‘It has been a huge thrill working with such a dedicated and immensely talented editorial team,’O’Riordan said in a statement.
‘Having spent much of this year celebrating the brand’s twenty-year heritage, I am going out on a high.”
IPC Southbank managing director Jackie Newcombe said: ‘For the next couple of months, it’s business as usual.
‘Meanwhile, we shall focus on recruiting for one of the most envied roles in publishing.”
IPC said an announcement about O’Riordan’s successor would be made ‘in due course”.
According to ABC, Marie Claire had an average monthly circulation of 316,756 in the first half of 2008, down 4.8 per cent year on year.
