Bauer Media’s weekly lads’ magazine Zoo has poached the associate editor from its arch rival Nuts.
Damian McSorley will join Zoo at the end of October, taking up the post of deputy editor.
McSorley is replacing Matt Mason who left last month to join recently redesigned music monthly Q as senior editor.
Prior to his two years at IPC’s Nuts magazine, McSorley edited men’s monthly Front.
Zoo editor and former Sunday Mirror showbiz editor Ben Todd was pleased to be stealing staff from the enemy. He said: “This is a huge coup for Zoo. Damian is widely acknowledged as one of the most exciting talents in men’s magazines and he will help make us an even more formidable magazine and multimedia brand.”
McSorley said: ‘The opportunity to work with Ben and his team was one too good to miss out on.”
Zoo and Nuts launched within weeks of each other in early 2004, with Nuts taking the lead in the circulation battle.
In the latest round of ABCs Zoo posted an average circulation figure of 161,331 for the first half of 2008, Nuts retained the lead with 250,061.
